“It’s another Tequila Sunrise
Starin’ slowly ‘cross the sky”
Oh, the sunrise can be such a perfect dose of beauty, inspiration, sparkling with magic and hope. For sunrises just naturally have a positive affect on us.
“The secret to a good morning is to watch the sunrise with an open heart.”
~ Anthony T. Hincks
Indeed, a sunrise is one of the most impressive sights one can ever witness. I can’t imagine a day without the existence of a sunrise. I might not stop to watch them every morning, but when I do, I feel positive and have a brighter outlook for the day.
“Don’t you feel you get value for your day if you’ve actually watched the sunrise?”
~ A J Vosse
Of course, if you are a fan of the well-known band the Eagles, you probably recognized the first two phrases above from their popular song “Tequila Sunrise”. The song was written in 1973 by Don Henley and Glenn Frey and recorded by the Eagles. It was the first single from the band’s second album, Desperado. Additionally, the song peaked at number 64 on the Billboard Hot 100.
This song, however, is not referring to the alcoholic drink, but is about a guy who has been drinking straight tequila until the sun comes up. Indeed, he stays up so late that he basically greets the “sunrise” with a drink in his hand. You can learn about this song’s background from this link: https://www.songmeaningsandfacts.com/tequila-sunrise-by-eagles/.
Tequila Sunrise – the cocktail
This story would not be complete if I didn’t say something about the tequila sunrise cocktail.
The drink is made with tequila and orange juice with some grenadine poured on top to create the red and orange colors of a sunrise. It’s served unmixed in a tall glass. The modern drink originates from Sausalito, California, in the early 1970s after an earlier version was created in the 1930s in Phoenix, Arizona. Indeed, the cocktail is named for its appearance when served—with gradations of color resembling a sunrise.
“When life gives me lemons, I make lemonade. I just wish life would give me oranges, so I could make a decent tequila sunrise.”
Perhaps you can see why I named this bright acrylic abstract with its oranges and yellows Tequila Sunrise. It is even further enhanced with a splash of mint. In conclusion, I couldn’t end this art story without a couple more quotes that I like regarding sunrises. Hope you enjoy them.
“Let the beauty of sunrise keep your heart warm.” ~ Lailah Gifty Akita
“Opportunities are like sunrises. If you wait too long, you miss them.”
~ William Arthur Ward
