You Choose with Abstract Art

This particular painting is one of those abstracts where it is all about the viewer. You might not think or realize this, but abstract art, even more so than any other type of art, is very personal. Not only personal to its creator, but also for the viewer. It is fluid and open to interpretation. Indeed, you may look at a piece I have created and feel things that I didn’t necessarily intend for you to feel, or that I don’t feel about the piece. Additionally, you may even see things in the painting I never saw. This is one of the things I like about abstract art, there is no right or wrong way to interpret it.

Abstract art is about engaging the emotion of the viewer, free of the distractions that painting immediately recognizable objects presents. This is the venue in which I communicate my inner voice and being. I can express myself without rules.

You Choose with Abstract Art

So, after creating this small oil painting, I asked my husband which direction he liked the painting. Well, in fact, he liked it a couple of ways. Then one of my fellow artists was in my studio and she liked it a couple different directions as well.

Consequently, it got me thinking, why not ask the audience to choose the direction they prefer for this painting. Below are 4 options for you to view this painting titled, “You Choose”. Select the one you feel speaks to you.

In the end, I seek to touch others by communicating through abstract art, but ultimately, you, the audience, choose if the piece touches you.
