The song “Good Day Sunshine” came to mind while glancing at this painting. The vibrant shades of blues filling the canvas along with the intense rays of sunshine providing interest offer a happy sun shinny feeling.

The song is by the Beatles on their 1966 album Revolver. It was written mainly by Paul McCartney and credited to the Lennon–McCartney partnership. McCartney intended it as a song in the style of the Lovin’ Spoonful’s contemporaneous hit single “Daydream”. The recording includes multiple pianos played in the barrelhouse style and evokes a vaudevillian mood.

Leonard Bernstein praised the song for its construction in a 1967 CBS News documentary. Additionally, Richie Unterberger of allmusic said the song “radiates optimism and good vibes”. I agree with this interpretation.

It is said that Paul McCartney wrote “Good Day Sunshine” at Kenwood, John Lennon’s house in Surrey. So, it seems the day was a sunny one, and McCartney composed the melody on Lennon’s piano. He later said that Lennon helped write the song, but that it was basically his.

I do believe this song by the Beatles is a simple happy one; hopefully you feel the same about this painting.
