Journey to the Top – SOLD

“To dare is to lose one’s footing momentarily. To not dare is to lose oneself.” – Søren Kierkegaard

Mountains have such forceful, enigmatic and positive energy. You can just feel its strength while standing at its foot and gazing upward to all its glory. Some of the best times in my life were climbing mountains in Colorado, sometimes with friends and many cherished times with my Lovie – my husband and friend.

Tramping through slushy snow fields, scurrying over boulders, jumping over small creeks, losing the path, struggling for air as the path sharply inclined upwards, all these and more are fond memories of my endeavors to reach the top. Stopping to take pictures of the magnificent wildflowers that shine and scream of life or the majestic vistas that you can’t seem to take all in are exquisite images that will always be with me. Hoping to capture a pic of the various little creatures that dart in front of your path, hoping to spot a hawk soaring in the sky, or perhaps catching a glimpse of a bear, mountain goat or elk, all kept me advancing toward the top. And yes, I was going to reach the top no matter what.

In my younger days, I would never want anyone to pass me; so with sheer determination, I would continue to charge further on with just a little quicker step. I felt so alive during these exulting experiences, perhaps absorbing some of the mountains endless energy to help me along the way. When I reflect back at these adventures, I know it wasn’t just reaching the top that was important, but all the phenomenal sights, sounds and challenging experiences made the journey truly unforgettable.

“The summit is what drives us, but the climb itself is what matters.” – Conrad Anker

So I think we all should be eager to embrace the steep path and learn that at every step, your heart and head will be there to point you in the direction of your dreams.

This painting titled “Journey to the Top” reminds of some of my Colorado adventures to reach the glorious mountain top.

“Sometimes, reaching out and taking someone’s hand is the beginning of a journey. At other times, it is allowing another to take yours.” ― Vera Nazarian, The Perpetual Calendar of Inspiration
