Misty Watercolor Memories
“Take care of all your memories. For you cannot relive them.” – Bob Dylan
“Misty Water-colored Memories”. Perhaps if you are old enough or a fan of Barbara Streisand, the singer, you can complete the phrase: “Misty Water-colored Memories of the Way We Were”.
Young or old, you will eventually reflect back to some memory that is a little hazy, but you know that it is important to you. A memory to cherish, to make you feel. Memories – allowing you to hold on to that feeling, just a little while longer. I am older now and have so many more memoires to reflect upon. Sometimes we wish to stay the same, though time marches on moving us toward new directions, but our memories remain as scatter pictures of the way we were. A time that was perhaps simple, a time to live and love.
As the song “The Way We Were” states:
“Memories may be beautiful and yet
What’s too painful to remember
We simply choose to forget
So it’s the laughter we will remember
Whenever we remember”
Misty Watercolor Memories – The Painting
This painting titled “Misty Watercolor Memories” reflects how our memories may become a little muddled with time, but we still have the desire to hold onto the memory and that feeling. We cherish those smiles we left behind, all the while knowing we must move on for that is the responsible thing to do, but not always the easy one.
Could it be that it was all so simple then, a time when we were young and lived life without regret. Or is that just a misty watercolor memory, shaped by time and our experiences.

“No memory is ever alone; it’s at the end of a trail of memories, a dozen trails that each have their own associations.” – Louis L’Amour
Below is the lyrics to the Song “The Way We Were”, such a great song and Barbara Streisand performed it superbly.

The Way We Were – Lyrics
Memories light the corners of my mind
Misty water-colored memories of the way we were
Scattered pictures of the smiles we left behind
Smiles we gave to one another for the way we were
Can it be that it was all so simple then
Or has time rewritten every line
If we had the chance to do it all again
Tell me, would we?
Could we?
Memories may be beautiful and yet
What’s too painful to remember
We simply choose to forget
So it’s the laughter we will remember
Whenever we remember
The way we were
The way we were
Songwriters: Alan Bergman / Marilyn Bergman / Marvin Hamlisch
