Music and Painting
Usually, creation of my artwork is Woven with Music. In other words, my paintings come to life while listening to music.
You might ask – well, what type of music do you listen to? In fact, the actual composition evolves as I paint to blues, rock n roll, vocal jazz, soul music, county music or even new blues like Rag’n’Bone Man. For the marriage of painting and music, just seems natural to me. Moreover, I find music, like nature evokes sensory experiences that awaken my creativity and frees my human spirit.
“Without music, life would be a mistake” ― Friedrich Nietzsche
Indeed, the rhythm of music quiets my mind and allows my energy to evolve on the canvas. For, I don’t choose the content, it chooses me. Definitely, I paint best when I let my hands do the talking while my mind is absorbed with the sounds of music.
Music – You got to love it and feel it
Life Blends Together
Art and Music – They naturally go together
My love for music touches me deep into my core, my essence. For me, the kind of music that I listen to makes my spirit alive and wander free. Perhaps in another life, I was a dancer or a singer, because I feel the music run through me and I am more alive when I hear it.
“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.” ― Plato
Music and Painting – An Oil Abstract by Red
Tmy brain on music is reflective in the abstract titled “Woven with Music”. I especially like this quote from Confucius – “Music produces a kind of pleasure which human nature cannot do without.” So, I find music and painting are homogeneous to me.
“Music is the literature of the heart; it commences where speech ends.”– Alphonse de Lamartine
“Music is the art which is most nigh to tears and memory.”– Oscar Wild
I have read many quotes about music, but I close with my favorite one that always rings true for me.
“Dear Music,
Thanks for always clearing my head, healing my heart and lifting my spirits” – Lori Deschene
