“A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality.”  ― John Lennon

Dreaming. We all do it at some point of our life. But I am not talking about those dreams that develop during sleep. Oh no, the dreams that come to us in the light of day are more powerful. Our daydreams. These daydreams are the ones that allow us to experience pleasant thoughts that distract our attention from the present. We even solve problems or have realizations of creative ideas.

I often do my daydreaming with my Lovie, aka my husband. Whether it is Sunday mornings or weekday evening walks, I find that these times are often the best part of the day. Lovie and I walk side by side sharing stories, discussing events or even better dreaming of our future. It may be future hikes we want to take, visiting places we have yet to experience or explore, building or remodeling a home, and yes, dreaming of our how we would spend our retired days.

Whatever you do, don’t discourage your dreaming propensity. Your heart’s desires are not empty vaporings. They foreshadow possible realities. Man was made to aspire, to look upward.Orison Swett Marden

There are various opinions about whether daydreams are a waste of time or can lead to creative ideas.  But all I know is I cherish my daydreaming times with my Lovie. We can’t forget how to daydream whether alone or with that special someone.

So, this painting with its mixtures of crisp blues and soothing soft shades and shapes of white coupled with a few vibrant colors shining through provides a happy pleasant hopeful feeling – just like daydreaming with my Lovie.

I believe that dreams – day dreams, you know, with your eyes wide open and your brain machinery whizzing – are likely to lead to the betterment of the world.  L. Frank Baum
