Heavenly Day

Heavenly Day was one of those paintings that presented a challenge for me. The first day of its creation was filled with uncertainty and misgivings for the painting’s composition and direction. Which should have told me something right there – I was trying too hard to create. Some of my best paintings, okay most of my best paintings are created by letting my soul and inner voice run free rather than constrained within preconceived thoughts and ideas.

So I put the painting away for a couple of weeks or so. When I brought it back out, I had to work hard to smother the doubtful voice. The one that says you are not going to get it right. But I also have another voice that is so determined to be a good artist that says “You are going to create excellent work, just release your fears.

I name the painting “Heavenly Day” because if you believe in yourself good things can happen. The painting also has a feeling of purity with its mixture of blues and soft whites dancing through the canvas. You can even perhaps see yourself sitting at a peaceful blue pond with the heavenly sky smiling down at you making the pond and sky become one.
