“Art is a voice – let it speak” – Rochelle Carr
You gaze upon a piece of art. You may hear nothing, but is the piece really silent? Oh no, it is a voice. For art is a powerful voice; something you can actually feel. Indeed, art touches all and enriches our lives while providing a common language to all people and all nationalities; young/old, rich/poor, collectors/non-collectors.
In fact, art transcends many boundaries; it just speaks to all who want to gaze upon it. Additionally, it can entertain, educate, and provoke thought and illicit diverse emotions. Furthermore, art can unlock profound human understanding and accomplishment. It has the power to bring all of us together. For it empowers us all through its simple truths and nourishes our society through its voiceless inspiration.
“Art, freedom, and creativity will change society faster than politics.” – Victor Pinchuk
The Voice of Art
Art is one of the many forms to express creatively; and can you imagine a world without the freedom to express creativity. It would be dead, for art brings the world to life. In fact, it provides a freedom to imagine, experience, and connect with each other. Art is not just about the artist; it is about the viewer’s connection to the work. Art can be considered the tree of life; and we all know how important a tree is to our life’s existence.
“Every art communicates because it expresses. It enables us to share vividly and deeply in meanings… For communication is not announcing things… Communication is the process of creating participation, of making common what had been isolated and singular… the conveyance of meaning gives body and definiteness to the experience of the one who utters as well as to that of those who listen.”
― John Dewey, Art as Experience
Voices – a Triptych
The colorful triptych titled “Voices” represents my artist voice. It reminds me to keep painting, to allow my artwork to speak for surely my words could not convey the visions that are within me.
“If you hear a voice within you saying, “You are not a painter,” then by all means paint… and that voice will be silenced.” – Vincent van Gogh
