With every sweep of the palette knife, layers of caramel, chocolate hot fudge, whipped cream white, and bursts of cherry red collided across the 18-by-18 canvas, creating a landscape that felt both familiar and mysterious. “It looks like memories melting together,” someone whispered. Another smiled and replied, “No… it looks like a Hot Fudge Sunday.” The name stayed. Thick ribbons of acrylic became warm fudge, bright flecks of white whipped cream, and the rich reds cherries.

The title also tips its hat to the beloved hot fudge sundae, a dessert born in the late 1800s when soda fountains began serving ice cream topped with warm chocolate sauce, often on Sundays when some communities discouraged the sale of fizzy sodas.
