Into the Music – The Phantom of the Opera all began as a novel by French writer Gaston Leroux. It was first published as a serialization in Le Gaulois from 23 September 1909, to 8 January 1910. In fact, it was published in volume form in late March 1910 by Pierre Lafitte. Did you know, the novel is partly inspired by historical events at the Paris Opera during the nineteenth century. Additionally, it has been made into movies and the famous musical.
For over 25 years, The Phantom of the Opera has been the Broadway musical all others are measured against. The timeless story, the unforgettable score, the undeniable obsession that could never die… Additionally, winner of seven 1988 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s stunning masterwork is more than the longest-running musical in Broadway history. For it’s an international phenomenon that unmasks emotions, leaving audiences everywhere breathless.
Phantom of The Opera – Into the Music
Far beneath the majesty and splendor of the Paris Opera House, hides the Phantom in a shadowy existence. A young soprano becomes the obsession of the disfigured musical genius. Shamed by his physical appearance and feared by all, the love he holds for his beautiful protégée Christine Daaé is so strong that even her heart cannot resist. He kidnaps the soprano and forces the owners of the play to keep her in the lead role of the play.
These two paintings were created on a Sunday while listening to the soundtrack “Phantom of the Opera”. There is such great composition to the songs from this musical that one can easily get lost in the music. The overall feeling of the movie fills me with sadness, but I love listening to this soundtrack. As you listen, you soon forget where you are, your emotions become unmasked and then you fall into the music.
