Red’s Nature Paintings

Nature has always provided me with peace of mind and tranquil repose. Unfortunately, I don’t take enough time to step outside and experience the ordinary but exceptional wonders of nature. But, when I do I am so grateful.

I live in an excellent location where I can look outside my windows and see and hear the varied and many beauties of nature. Then if I have an opportunity or more importantly, make time to live with nature, I am truly complete.

For, when I am hiking and among the mountains, trees and all the creatures, I feel an easing of tension in my body. Happiness and excitement come upon me. Truly, some of my most gratifying and spiritual times are my walks in the forest. I see the sun shining through the trees, with its brilliant gleam bouncing on the leaves or bringing light to the footpaths that I traversed. The smells of clean air surrounds me as I sit alongside a trickle of a stream. I  am happy and light as I jump over small puddles of water as I wind my way to one of my favorite trees. And yes, I definitely hear the sounds of the forest. For, I delight in hearing the cardinals, the wrens, and even the daring blue jays. Hearing the hawks screech through the forest trees as I watch the many forest animals that dare to show themselves to me are a special blessing.

“It is not so much for its beauty that the forest makes a claim upon men’s hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air that emanation from old trees, that so wonderfully changes and renews a weary spirit”. – Robert Louis Stevenson

Nature Paintings of the Heart

Oh, the glorious inspiration of being outdoors. The clean air invites me to smell the pines, to breathe in all the goodness of nature’s treasures. Everything in nature is always moving, always working. I love the many wonderful creatures of nature – insects, mammals, birds; they are all treasures.

Nature, the environment, our earth is with us here, now, and part of every aspect of our life. The natural beauty and nature’s treasures are something we should respect, admire and hold dear to us. Think of the magnificent mountains, the vast oceans, the diverse wildlife, the meadows of wildflowers dancing in the breeze, the simplicity of the lizards, frogs and spiders that live amongst us and oh, so much more.

I titled this selection of my artwork as “Red’s Nature” perhaps with a twist.  For yes, it contains paintings of nature by me; but maybe more importantly, it represents my inner self, my natural being to experience and paint wildlife. For after all, nature’s inspiration is a huge component to me as an artist.

“Going to the mountains is like going home.” – John Muir

“I took a walk in the woods and came out taller than the trees.” – Henry David Thoreau

“In nature, nothing is perfect and everything is perfect. Trees can be contorted, bent in weird ways, and they’re still beautiful.”

– Alice Walker
